In
1997 Susan Rosenblatt-Schehr, P.T., a Baltimore, Maryland physical therapist
created and developed the Refacée method for combating the aging
effects of wrinkles and the loss of muscle tone as a result of treating
patients with jaw problems, persistent headaches, facial and neck pain and sinus problems. Many of her patients began to notice that as she was treating their problems,
their facial wrinkles and furrows were reducing. Over time, she began to
realize that through the use of her manual physical therapy techniques to
treat an ailment, the tone of the skin was also improved.
This discovery led her to further develop a wrinkle reduction and facial
rejuvenation method by integrating various
physical therapy manual techniques. She conducted a controlled study using
her new wrinkle reduction method on fourteen subjects between the ages of
50 and 70 who presented with varying amounts of facial lines. The subjects
were treated two to three times per week for one month, totaling ten sessions.
The results indicated that more than 90% of the subjects experienced a decrease
in facial tension along with the reduction of facial lines and wrinkles.
Also, most facial asymmetry, which was naturally acquired during life appeared
to diminish. All individuals reported positively about the process and all
experienced long term effects as noted by a follow-up visit two months after
their last session.
Susan then began applying this method to the neck and elbows also
for wrinkle reduction.
The rest is history.
